On October 1st members from the Brattleboro Camera Club participated in the annual Worldwide Photo Walk, created by Scott Kelby nine years ago.

The walk through Brattleboro was lead once again by Tom Singleton.

Wardsboro Library - May 2016 Artist of the Month

Kevin Burke's recent travels in 2014 and 2016 include photography of the cities and people of Beijing, Chongqing, Qufu and Kaili, China, as well as Hohhot in Inner Mongolia. In these travels he has created many abstract and inspiring images, only a few of which are on display here.

Kevin first started taking photos with a Kodak 110 camera when he was 10 years old. He has always been drawn to create abstract images from everyday life, such as the corner of a building, a doorway or the way a shadow falls on a piece of birch bark. Kevin also photographs people and aims to capture the person in an exquisite moment in time.  Kevin Burke has been fascinated with the Chinese culture, traditional minority ethnic costumes and Asian craftsmanship since his college years. Kevin's photos of China, its food, buildings and its people, show the many colors and textures of the country.

The photos of China may be viewed during the month of May at the Wardsboro Public Library, located at 170 Main Street in Wardsboro, Vermont.

On Thursday, May 26th, there will be an artist reception, at which time the public is invited to meet the artist and some of the students from Leland and Gray school who also experienced the many wonders of China, with the "Journey East" program. The reception will include a continuous slideshow, Question & Answer time, Chinese & Mongolian music, as well as light refreshments.

Artwork is available for purchase only at the reception or through contacting the artist directly.
